TOCA SOCIAL
Developing an interactive football concept required a sophisticated technical prototype to validate commercial viability and secure vital capital funding. We engineered a complex network of hardware and software across seventeen gaming booths, testing the complete ecosystem off-site within our workshops to guarantee total operational reliability before physical site installation. The resulting 2021 launch at the London O2 achieved immediate commercial profitability. This successful engineering blueprint has since driven rapid expansion to further UK and international venues.

From A Nucleus Of An Idea To Multi-Million Dollar Reality
An entrepreneur came to us with the nucleus of an idea: a stylish venue transforming how visitors eat, drink, meet, and play through interactive football games. They needed to prove the competitive socialising concept was technically feasible to unlock crucial funding and gain serious investment. The technical architecture required a complex, multifaceted infrastructure that could withstand heavy visitor interaction while remaining simple enough for guests of all ages and abilities to navigate. Every game needed to perform flawlessly on a busy Saturday night without demanding technical supervision. The underlying challenge was establishing absolute operational certainty before a single brick was laid. We had to validate that custom technology could reliably power a multi-million dollar hospitality business.
Synchronising Custom Tracking Networks With Irregular Graphic Projection
We joined the partnership early to shape the guest experience before software engineering choices became fixed. The Story Engineers provided deep technical expertise across seventeen custom studio boxes. Each space combines computer vision tracking, responsive lighting, and dynamic audio focused on a projected back wall display. We engineered the interface to sync directly with proprietary smart sight technology and physical ball-delivery machines operating at variable speeds. To protect operational predictability, the entire ecosystem was built and tested off-site within our workshops before installation. This dual-commissioning process guaranteed that data-heavy tracking software communicated perfectly with the hardware. We delivered a user-friendly interface that lets twelve players choose between four distinct gaming modules and three difficulty tiers without a hitch.
Commercial Proof Of Concept Triggering Rapid International Expansion
The launch at the London O2 in 2021 achieved immediate commercial and operational success, welcoming over 300,000 visitors in its first year alone. Proving this interactive model was a highly profitable success. This robust engineering blueprint enabled rapid expansion from the capital to Westfield London Shopping Centre in Shepherd’s Bush and Birmingham, with venues holding exceptional customer ratings. With new locations now scheduled to open in other parts of the world soon, the initial technical architecture continues to support global revenue growth.
